South Coast Veterinary Service

South Coast Veterinary Service is a dedicated mobile practice serving Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Services provided include routine healthcare for horses, such as health exams, Powerfloat dentistry, immunizations, and deworming. Most unwell horses can be seen and treated on-farm for colic, lameness, wounds, or other illness or injury. For critical illness or advanced diagnostics, haul-in to the hospital facility at Petroglyph Animal Hospital is available to clients.

I am pleased to provide herd health services including pregnancy checking, dehorning, and castration. I can work with you to develop standard protocols, so you won’t need to call out a vet every time a problem arises. I also see pet sheep, goats, and pigs. I am happy to see pets for routine wellness exams and vaccines; ill pets are best served in a hospital setting with access to diagnostic equipment. I offer integrative medicine, including acupuncture, for all species.

Over the phone consulting is available to established clients. In order to provide this service or prescribe medication, a health examination must have been carried out within the past year. For production animals, the herd or flock must be visited at least once annually in order to prescribe medications (this is a legal requirement). For telephone and in-person problem consultation, a fee may apply. This service costs less than an exam fee, and if needs cannot be met without seeing the animal, any telephone consultation fee charged for a particular animal will be refunded or absorbed at the time the animal is seen.

I work collaboratively with other veterinarians, and provide referral to surgery and internal medicine specialists. My goal is to have happy, satisfied clients and the best possible outcome for all patients. I will always provide you with all reasonable treatment options and estimates of the costs involved.
